The DISTANCE BETWEEN WELDS
I have heard this addressed as 1 pipe diameter, two pipe diameters, 5 heat affected zones etc. With the ASME Boiler and pressure Vessel Code Section I , there is NO restriction on the distance between circumferential butt welds. There may be in other codes and standards. I would be interested in knowing if there is an engineering reason for this restriction when it is put in place. Corrosion, Strength? All code interpretations were provided with permission from C-Spec using their Turbo INT software.
