Weld Cap Profile for Stringer Beads
I try to tie the toe of each bead to a point near the top of the previous bead. The same concept helps with fill passes to prevent valleys between beads that are sometimes hard to clean slag from. Here is an example of a weld cap on a 2-3/4" OD x .625" Wall tube coupon . The weld was made in the 6G position using 1/8" E7018. You can click on the picture to see the full size picture.
